Simply put, resistance training is working a muscle against some form of resistance, whether that be gravity, springs or rubber bands.
The goal of most resistance trainers is to develop strength, muscular power and/or muscle mass.
A secondary consideration for most people, but one which is in fact equally important is the value resistance training has in injury prevention, rehabilitation and an aid in the prevention of body fat accumulation.
For the most part, resistance training at FNM emphasises the movement of muscle and not weight. With our focus on moving muscle, technique becomes much more important than how much weight you can lift so that muscles can be identified and targeted much more efficiently.
The advantage of putting the focus on the muscles and good technique are a much improved posture and spinal alignment, and a dramatically reduced risk of injury.
